It is with immense pride and pleasure that I extend my warmest wishes as we commemorate the centenary of the Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC). Reaching this remarkable milestone is a testament to the Council’s enduring commitment to upholding the highest standards of medical professionalism, ethics, and patient care in Sri Lanka.

Since its establishment in 1925, the SLMC has played a pivotal role in regulating the medical, dental and allied health professions, ensuring the competency of healthcare practitioners, and safeguarding the rights of patients. Over the years, the Council has evolved in response to the changing landscape of healthcare, continuously strengthening its regulatory framework to meet national and global standards.

As we celebrate 100 years of dedicated service, we also look toward the future with renewed purpose. The advancements in medicine, technology, and healthcare delivery present new challenges and opportunities. It is imperative that we continue to enhance our policies, embrace innovation, and foster collaboration with all stakeholders to build a resilient, patient-centered healthcare system.

I extend my sincere appreciation to the past and present members of the SLMC, healthcare professionals, and all those who have contributed to the Council’s journey. Your dedication and unwavering commitment have been instrumental in shaping the SLMC’s legacy.

May this centenary celebration serve as a moment of reflection on our achievements and as an inspiration to uphold the values of integrity, excellence, and service to humanity.
