It is a pleasure to extend my congratulations to the Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC) on the momentous occasion of its centenary celebrations. This milestone marks a century of dedication, integrity, and excellence in regulating and guiding the medical profession in Sri Lanka.

Providing the best healthcare to all citizens remains a primary priority for the Government of Sri Lanka. For 100 years, the SLMC has played an important role in upholding the highest standards in medical education, ethics, and professional conduct. Through its tireless and often unrecognized efforts, it has safeguarded the well-being of the people of Sri Lanka by ensuring that our medical practitioners maintain the highest levels of competence and ethical responsibility.

I am aware that the journey of the SLMC has been marked by many achievements, fostering trust and confidence in the healthcare sector. As we look to the future, the Council's role remains vital in embracing medical advancements and addressing emerging healthcare challenges, thereby further strengthening our national healthcare system.

On this memorable occasion, I extend my sincere appreciation and gratitude to all past and present members of the SLMC, as well as the dedicated medical professionals who have contributed immensely to the health and well-being of our nation. May the Sri Lanka Medical Council continue its noble service with the same commitment and excellence in the years to come.
