Midwives

A healthcare professional who holds a Certificate of Efficiency as a Midwife issued by the Ceylon Medical College Council and is authorized to practice midwifery in accordance with Section 51 of the Medical Ordinance.

About Midwives

Midwives play a vital role in providing maternal and newborn healthcare by supporting women during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postnatal period. The Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC) registers qualified midwives who meet the prescribed educational and statutory requirements, enabling them to practice professionally in Sri Lanka.

How to Apply

  1. Download and Complete the Application
    Fill in the application form with your personal, contact, and qualification details exactly as they appear on your official documents.
  2. Prepare the Required Documents
    Upload the required supporting documents, including your Certificate of Efficiency in Midwifery, National Identity Card (NIC), passport-size photographs, affidavit, SLMC ID card application, and any other required documents.
  3. Make the Payment
    Pay the prescribed non-refundable registration fee using an approved payment method and upload the payment receipt.
  4. Review and Submit
    Ensure that you submit accurate and complete documents, along with the original documents, to complete the registration process.
  5. SLMC Verification
    The Sri Lanka Medical Council will review your application and may contact you for any necessary information before your registration is processed.
